Supporting Hope: Company Launches Fundraising Campaign for Sick Employees

2023-07-10
Yan Mei, hang in there! On September 1st of this year, Yan Mei, a 51-year-old employee in the company's electrical workshop, went to the fever clinic for a checkup due to a cold and fever, and was found to have a very low white blood cell count. She was subsequently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and transferred to the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University for treatment. In October 2010, Yan Mei and her husband, Qi Lianghong, came to Jianghuai Electric and worked together in the electrical workshop. The couple worked diligently at the company, completing production tasks on time and to a high standard; they were hardworking and resilient employees. Yan Mei's daily hospital expenses were like water flowing away. To date, medical expenses have exceeded 100,000 yuan. Meanwhile, due to a shortage of blood supplies at the hospital, plasma and platelets had to be purchased from outside sources, and their child had resigned from their job to come to Suzhou to care for her. They all had to take care of themselves and could not get reimbursed. The doctor told me that they would need nearly one million yuan in medical expenses in the future. Her lover, Qi Lianghong, has put the couple's only property on the market with a real estate agency, preparing to sell it at a low price to cover medical expenses, but this is still a drop in the bucket compared to the enormous cost of treatment. Upon learning of this situation, the company's Party Committee and Trade Union immediately launched a donation campaign and issued an appeal, encouraging all employees to take action to help Yan Mei overcome her difficulties.

The company's Party Committee and Trade Union issued a notice to all employees.
"A touch of love, a touch of hope"
Charitable Donation Initiative
The proposal received an immediate response.
Everyone generously donated.
Donate a little love
On September 29, the company's labor union organized volunteers to conduct a charity donation event in front of the canteen.
Nearly 200 employees participated in the donation event that day.
Many hands make light work; every penny represents love.
Love, bit by bit
Transfer money and cash together via WeChat.
Dozens, hundreds
This demonstrates the employees' selfless support for the charitable donation.

Upon seeing the appeal, sales company employees immediately organized a donation drive. Since most sales staff were located in different cities, they donated via WeChat transfers. Some colleagues who couldn't attend in person entrusted others to donate. Others expressed their support through their workshops or departments. Currently, the company and its employees have raised a total of 29,092 yuan, which has been transferred by the company's labor union to Yan Mei's husband, Qi Lianghong, for Yan Mei's treatment and to show her care.
Charity is finite, but love is priceless. This donation activity promoted the traditional virtues and noble spirit of Jianghuai Electric, embodying the spirit of "helping those in need," and fully demonstrating the genuine care and shared destiny of Jianghuai Electric employees. It also further strengthened the company's cohesion and sense of belonging.
Let us wish Yan Mei a speedy recovery!
